From 1440 until 1848, the featherie ball was the only golf ball available. Making one was arduous work and even the master ballmakers, such as Allen Robertson, Old Tom Morris and William Gourlay, could produce only four a day. Hand stitched leather pieces formed a pouch, which was stuffed tightly with boiled feathers. The result is a hard rugged ball that players could drive up to 175 yards. This collectable featherie makes a perfect gift, tournament prize or pull out your wooden clubs and play a round.
