The nose of the 2009 Cuvée de l’Abri Rouge is bursting with bright red and blue fruits aromas of raspberries, cherries and blueberries, with hints of cedar, fresh peppermint and a touch of chocolate. On the palate it is light to medium in body, with delicate tannins and refreshing acidity. The flavors on the palate are primarily red fruits with hints of anise.

The Edgefield Winery is located at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge at McMenamins Edgefield on the site of the historic 1911 Multnomah County Poor Farm.  The soft structure of our "blend of the Red Shed" reflects the unique character of the Southern Rhone Valley varietals from which it is blended.  This year's blend is composed of 38% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 10% Touriga Nacional, 10% Tempranillo, 5% Cinsaut, 5% Viognier.
